When someone mentions a “National Park”, people tend to picture large expanses of nature, filled with trees, lakes or mountains. They certainly expect to find themselves somewhere remote, moved away from the world – they most certainly do not expect to find themselves within one of the biggest metropolitan centre in Canada, but that’s exactly where Rouge National Urban Park – located on Zoo Rd, in Toronto!

Open in 2015, Rouge boasts features that can be found no where else in the Greater Toronto Area, including some of the only working farms, the only campground inside of Toronto, Carolinian ecosystems, the area’s largest marsh and a beach at Lake Ontario. The area has some great hiking opportunity and is full of history to explore. So if you’re looking to commune with nature but don’t have time to head out of the city – Rouge is the place to be!
