Is there a way to avoid copious amounts of sugar in BBQ sauce?
Yes but where exactly do you find one. Getting high quality, low a sugar sauce on the shelf at your local grocery store isn’t easy. Yet, when you do, its usually flavour-free, as well.
Give this quick and super clean recipe a try. You’ll have everyone licking their fingers and asking where you bought it.
Disclaimer: I know preparing your own BBQ sauce may sound daunting. After all it is the star of the show. This sugar free BBQ sauce can be made with only a dozen ingredients, all of which you will likely already have in your pantry.
As with any recipe, you can tweak it to your taste. Want to add some more heat no problem. Increase the cayenne. Enjoy your sauce on the sweeter side, go ahead and add a bit more erythritol or monk fruit extract.
Mix all the ingredients in a saucepan, and then let it simmer for twenty minutes.
Effortless. You’re welcome.
2 ½ 6-oz cans Tomato Paste
½ cup Apple Cider Vinegar
1/3 cup monk fruit or erythritol
2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
¼ tsp Chill Powder
¼ tsp Cayenne
2 tsp Smoked Paprika
1 tsp Garlic Powder
½ tsp Onion Powder
½ tsp Sea Salt
1 ½ cup Water (approx.)
- Whisk all ingredients together in a saucepan, adding the water last.
- First start with a cup of water. Then whisk in a little more at a time until the consistency is a bit thinner than what you want it to be.
- Bring the mixture to a boil at medium-high heat, and then reduce the heat to medium-low.
- Let it simmer uncovered, be sure to stir frequently. Approx. 20 mins, or until it has thickened to your desired consistency.
