Romantic couple dating in pub at night

Yes, it’s likely that this Valentine’s Day is going to be looking a little different for people; with many restaurants still closed in most regions, and social distancing practices still heavily in effect, it is likely that we’re all going to have to be creative with how we celebrate our loved ones this year — while this article was written before we had to make such considerations, the principles still apply, and we’re fairly confident that if you’re looking for how to make your Valentine’s Day something special, there will be a clue or two in here for you.

So, without further ado, let’s find out how to plan a memorable date:

First Impressions:

The saying first impressions are everything is especially true for dating. An important piece of advice is dress to impress. You don’t want to show up looking like a mess or like you haven’t showered for a week. Also, make sure you show your date the respect of arriving on time and coming to the door when you pick her up because you want to show her that chivalry isn’t dead and you care about her. Finally, to get that great first impression, compliment your date as soon as you see her. This will make her feel good and let her know that you appreciate and admire all the time she took to get ready for your time together.

Plan Ahead:

When planning an epic date, it’s a really bad idea to leave planning what you’re going to do to the last minute (especially if you’re going out for Valentine’s Day). Start to plan the date a week or two in advance and always make reservations. If this is a first date, find out more about who you’re going out with so that you can tailor the activity to something that will interest her. Make sure, though, that you don’t plan an activity you don’t like, because then you’ll be miserable the whole time and all that negative energy will leave a horrible first impression. Skip the movies so you can spend time getting to know one another, and if you decide to go out for dinner, try to go to a place that neither of you have been before. Finally, try to do something that has a time limit. Doing so will leave your date wanting more and guarantee a second date!

During the Date:

Once you’re finally out with your special someone, make sure you listen to what your date has to say. She won’t appreciate you talking about yourself the whole time, so fight the urge to only focus on yourself so you can get to know her. One of the most important tips is to turn off your cellphone. Glancing at your phone, texting, or taking a call are the rudest things you can do and you’ll make it seem like you’d rather be anywhere else than with her. Finally, no matter what, you should always pay. She can obviously pay for herself, but nicely insisting that this one’s on you will make her feel special.

At the End of the Night:

When you walk her to the door at the end of the night, you’ll probably be able to tell whether she’s up for a nightcap or wants to send you home ASAPFeel out the situation and make yourself available (but not too available). Make a move, but don’t go for it if you’re unsure whether she’s into you. This could make things really complicated and awkward, and there’s no worse way to end a date then getting completely shut down.

The Next Day:

If you want to pursue your love interest and go on a second date, make sure you send her a text or give her a call the next day. The three-day rule is over, don’t play these games. If you want to talk to her, then call. If she agreed to go out again, or you find yourself still at her house the next morning, then you know you planned a fantastic date!
