What is clean eating, anyway? Most of us would agree that clean eating includes a chicken breast, white fish, lean cuts of meat, oatmeal, natural almonds, berries, veggies, kale & sweet potatoes. But much of the foods we buy are lacking Nutrition – robbed of nutrients, vitamins and minerals. Chicken breasts now contain unnecessary hormones, or worse, may be injected with saline. Our berries are sprayed with pesticides (unless they are organic). The list goes on. So what can we do to ensure that our protein shakes actually contain protein that will be fully absorbed into your muscles? Research! If you want to feel great, age nicely, build lean muscle and burn fat, read the ingredients and do your research for best results. And remember that taste does not always equal results. Here are eight important tips for clean eating:
Tip #1 – Fit bodies are made in the kitchen, defined in the gym.
Tip #2 – Research the science and formulation.
Tip #3 – Look at the grades of the food products that you are consuming. You get what you pay for in nutrients.
Tip #4 – Vitamins and minerals are not all the same. They have grades as well. An “A” is always best.
Tip #5 – The best tasting does not always mean the best quality.
Tip #6 – Test your protein powder to see how much of it is actually being absorbed into your muscles. Try this: in a small bowl pour glass equal parts water & vinegar (white distilled vinegar has pH similar to stomach acid), drop in a spoonful of your protein powder and if it’s a quality powder it should all dissolve in the liquid. If it stays thick or lumpy, it will not be absorbed by your body.
Tip #7 – Invest in your Nutrition. This should be a priority over a gym membership, Sports activities or fitness apparel.
Tip #8 – Have an open mind. Read and learn as much as you can about a product before you invest.
